Weekend Workshops
Re-imagining our Life Stories in Fact and Fiction: A Reflective Writing Workshop
Friday evening, March 26, Saturday, March 27, 2010.
In this two-day workshop, we will explore our life stories and personal myths—and find refreshing new meaning in them. We’ll write character portraits, scenes from childhood, and dialogues, using our favorite myths and fairytales as references. We’ll write from different points of view to uncover rich perspectives, our own crisp voices, and our own lively prose. We will explore fiction and nonfiction and consider where the two intersect.
Come prepared to write a lot in response to a series of evocative prompts. Bring your laptop or a notebook and pen, along with a willingness to explore. And bring a photo of yourself as a child. You’ll leave with a whole new way of seeing yourself and the world—and plenty of new writing skills and ideas. This workshop is appropriate for all skill levels and genres. It is open to women and men.
Cost: $125. Presented through Resource Center for Women in Ministry in the South. Durham, NC. Contact: RCWMS, 919-683-1236, rcwmsnc@aol.com
Journaling in Words and Images
A picture may (or may not) be worth a thousand words-it’s debatable. But here’s how you can merge the evocative power of both words and images in your journal to create synergy, insight, and fun. Coming soon: a rare opportunity to merge the word and the image, presented in collaboration with painter Linda Passman.
2 Saturdays, April 10 and April 17, 9:30 – 3 PM, fee $195. At Linda’s studio in Chapel Hill. For more information, click here. For registration form, click here.
